i3 config file (v4)

Please see http://i3wm.org/docs/userguide.html for a complete reference!

set $mod Mod4

Font for window titles. Will also be used by the bar unless a different font

is used in the bar {} block below. ISO 10646 = Unicode

#font -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal–13-120-75-75-C-70-iso10646-1

The font above is very space-efficient, that is, it looks good, sharp and

clear in small sizes. However, if you need a lot of unicode glyphs or

right-to-left text rendering, you should instead use pango for rendering and

chose a FreeType font, such as:

font pango:Meslo LG S Bold 10

Use Mouse+$mod to drag floating windows to their wanted position

floating_modifier $mod

start a terminal

bindsym $mod+Return exec roxterm

kill focused window

bindsym $mod+Shift+q kill

start dmenu (a program launcher)

bindsym $mod+d exec dmenu_run

There also is the (new) i3-dmenu-desktop which only displays applications

shipping a .desktop file. It is a wrapper around dmenu, so you need that

installed.

bindsym $mod+d exec –no-startup-id i3-dmenu-desktop

change focus

bindsym $mod+h focus left bindsym $mod+j focus down bindsym $mod+k focus up bindsym $mod+l focus right

alternatively, you can use the cursor keys:

bindsym $mod+Left focus left bindsym $mod+Down focus down bindsym $mod+Up focus up bindsym $mod+Right focus right

move focused window

bindsym $mod+Shift+h move left bindsym $mod+Shift+j move down bindsym $mod+Shift+k move up bindsym $mod+Shift+l move right

alternatively, you can use the cursor keys:

restart i3 inplace (preserves your layout/session, can be used to upgrade i3)

bindsym $mod+Shift+r restart

exit i3 (logs you out of your X session)

bindsym $mod+Shift+e exec “i3-nagbar -t warning -m ‘You pressed the exit shortcut. Do you really want to exit i3? This will end your X session.’ -b ‘Yes, exit i3’ ‘i3-msg exit’”

resize window (you can also use the mouse for that)

    output DVI-I-1
    #tray_output primary
    status_command i3status

}

bar { colors { focused_workspace #57C257 #008500 #ffffff } output VGA-0 status_command ~/.i3status.sh }

focus_follows_mouse no workspace_auto_back_and_forth yes

for_window [class=“Pidgin”] floating enable

assign [class=“Thunderbird”] 6: mail assign [class=“Chromium”] 3: www assign [class=“Pidgin”] 4: social assign [class=“Evince”] 5: pdfs assign [class=“Steam”] 9

bindsym $mod+Shift+s exec /home/heinz/.i3/switch.py bindsym $mod+b exec “xset dpms force off” bindsym $mod+x move workspace to output right

My colors

client.focused #008500 #008500 #ffffff #67E667 {% endhighlight %}

Ich habe die Bewegungstasten wie in vim gemapped. Ist einfach angenehmer und weniger verwirrend. Ansonsten eine eher weniger spannende Config.
